Now that pro-life Senator Jeff Sessions has been confirmed by the Senate as the new Attorney General, Alabama has replaced him with another equally pro-life senator.

Alabama Governor Robert Bentley appointed State Attorney General Luther Strange to fill Sessions’ Senate seat. The good news for the pro-life Community is that Strange is just as pro-life as sessions, it had a 100% pro-life voting record and excoriated Roe vs. Wade was one of the worst Supreme Court cases in history.

During his tenure as the Alabama Attorney General, Strange worked hard to uphold pro-life legislation taken to courts by abortion advocates.

A couple years ago, an Alabama court issued a ruling saying the state’s chemical endangerment of a child law also includes protection for unborn children. Alabama Attorney General Luther Strange issued a statement calling the decision a victory.

Strange said the court ruled that “the plain meaning of the word ‘child’ in the chemical endangerment statute includes unborn children.”

“The Court has ratified our argument that the public policy of our state is to protect life, both born and unborn,” Strange stated. “It is a tremendous victory that the Alabama Supreme Court has affirmed the value of all life, including those of unborn children whose lives are among the most vulnerable of all.”

The Court upheld the convictions of two women whose use of illegal drugs while they were pregnant caused their unborn children to suffer exposure to those drugs.

Strange also worked to uphold the state’s ban on dismemberment abortions.

He explained that dismemberment abortions, which are gruesome and horrific, are not really any different than partial-birth abortions, which are illegal. Strange pointed out that even liberal U.S. Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg called both procedures “equally gruesome.”

Strange also worked to protect the conscience rights of a Catholic television station that the Obama administration was trying to force to pay for abortion drugs for its employees in its health plan.

“Alabama has a proud history of protecting our First Freedom,” said Attorney General Strange.  “We have been honored to continue that tradition by standing with EWTN and protecting rights of conscience for all Alabama citizens, and we will continue to support EWTN as it appeals the district court’s disappointing decision.”
