Christopher Ruddy, CEO of Newsmax, reported that President Donald Trump said over the weekend that he will be “proven right” in his bombshell claims that former President Barack Obama wiretapped Trump Tower during the election.

“This will be investigated, it will all come out. I will be proven right,” Trump said Saturday in a conversation with Ruddy, who wrote about their discussion in a post at Newsmax Sunday.

In a series of tweets Saturday, Trump said Obama ordered Trump Tower to be wiretapped during the 2016 election, though he did not immediately provide any evidence to back up that claim.

James Clapper, former director of National Intelligence under Obama, denied the accusations Sunday during an interview on NBC’s “Meet the Press.” He told host Chuck Todd there was “no such wiretap activity mounted against” Trump.

Clapper also said he “can deny” that there was any Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act court order to conduct surveillance on Trump. He said that if such an order existed, he would have known about it.

FBI Director James Comey, according to a report  in the New York Times, asked the Department of Justice to publicly reject Trump’s allegations. According to officials, Comey is concerned the allegations could “raise the public’s expectations that the federal authorities have significant evidence implicating the Trump campaign.”

As for Trump himself, Ruddy wrote Sunday: “I haven’t seen him this pissed off in a long time.”

The Newsmax CEO blamed partisan politics for all the controversy plaguing Trump.

“Clearly,” he wrote, “the Democrats aren’t interested in a fair process. They are on a mission: torpedo Trump early.”
