For the fourth year in a row, Mike Rowe, the former Discovery Channel and CNN star,  is helping get America’s workforce back on its feet with a scholarship program designed to train people to do the jobs our country desperately needs filled.

Rowe told “Fox and Friends” that his Work Ethics Scholarship Program sets aside “five or six hundred grand” in order to teach those willing to learn how to work in a given trade. Applicants must take a S.W.E.A.T. (Skill & Work Ethic Aren’t Taboo) pledge.

It’s “a solemn oath not to become a lazy, self-entitled drone who blames others for their troubles and expects to be taken care of,” Rowe explained, adding that it’s “an anthem to personal responsibility and accountability.

“If you want to weld, you’re going to work,” he said. “We’ve trained a lot of kids, many of whom are making north of six figures. Carpentry, the construction trades — they’re all in demand right now. If you can really operate a welding torch, and you’re willing to travel, you’re going to kill it.”

He’s not wrong. The last time Rowe was on “Fox and Friends,” he explained that the American workforce has a massive “skills gap” that has left 5.6 million blue collar jobs waiting to be filled. Sadly, no one wants to fill these jobs due to their unpopularity in a society that has put emphasis — and even pride — in increasingly unavailable white collar jobs. This emphasis has led to many jobless millennials who have no skills, few prospects, and a mountain of student debt. Due to this lack of meaningful work, millennials today are making less than their parents were at the same age, and are in farther into the monetary hole.

“I’m not interested in subsidizing the pursuit of your dream,” Rowe said of the scholarship program last year in an interview with RedState, “but I am interested in getting more plumbers, steam fitters, HVAC operators, and electricians out in the workforce, because those are the people that I depend on to keep the lights on. Plus the opportunities are there, and they’re real.”

The deadline to apply for the program is May 19. Watch Rowe explain more about his scholarship program with the “Fox and Friends” hosts below:
